The Book

Coming soon

Mindamity is an invitation to come home to yourself.

Blending neuroscience, mindfulness and the wisdom of lived experience, this book explores how we can begin to understand our thoughts, recognise our patterns and find a different way of responding to life's challenges.

Not by becoming someone new, but by rediscovering the wholeness that has always been within us.

A welcome into the book

This is the book I most needed, and the one I hope will sit quietly beside you. It is a gentle companion for the tender times, when life feels like a little too much and you long to feel steadier, softer, more at home in yourself. There is no fixing here, and nothing to get right. Only a kind and unhurried way back to the part of you that has been there all along.

A little of what is inside

Each chapter begins in the natural world because nature is not separate from us. We belong to it. The same patterns of movement, rest, change and renewal that shape the seasons, tides, trees and rivers are reflected in us too. Our breath rises and falls. Our hearts keep rhythm. We move through periods of effort and rest, holding on and letting go.

When we stop long enough to notice, something in us recognises that connection. The sound of water moving over stone, the strength of an ancient oak, first light on still water, the hush of a woodland path, these are not simply beautiful things to look at. They are moments and can remind us of a steadier rhythm beneath the noise of modern life and invite us back into the present.

From there, Mindamity turns inward.

It explores the brain, body, breath, emotions and familiar patterns that shape the way we move through our lives. The science is there for a reason. Understanding what is happening inside us can create those extraordinary moments of recognition.

So that’s what is happening. That’s why I react like this. That’s why my body does that.
I understand it now.
And perhaps I can work with it differently.

That understanding matters because Mindamity is not asking you simply to breathe more deeply, meditate more often or think more positively. It is inviting you to understand yourself well enough to begin working with your own mind and body rather than fighting them.

And this is where the possibility of real change begins.

A taste of the writing

The body is often communicating before an emotion becomes a wave of tears or a burst of anger. By the time you consciously name what you are feeling, there may have been a whispering from the body. Learning to hear those whispers, before they become shouts, is the practice this chapter is asking of you.

An experience can unfold very quickly. Something happens. An email arrives, a memory surfaces, a comment lands in an unexpected way. Before you have fully worked out what it means your body may already be responding, your nervous system has reacted. A flash of heat, a tightening in the throat, a flutter in the belly, a heaviness that arrives without explanation. Then the mind begins to make sense of what is happening.

I am anxious. I am angry. I am sad.

By catching the sensation first, before the reaction, before the label, before the story, you may find something precious, a gap. That moment of space between what happened and how you respond. That gap is where presence lives. That gap is where choice becomes possible.

Mindamity is a book for people who want to do more than understand themselves intellectually. It is a book to work with.

If there is somewhere in your life where you feel change is needed, perhaps in the way you respond to stress, speak to yourself, meet difficult emotions, care for your body, relate to others, or simply experience your ordinary days, these pages are there to support that work.

Not by promising transformation overnight. Not by asking you to become somebody else. But by helping you notice what is happening, understand why it may be happening, practise something different and return to it often enough for another way to become more familiar.

Read. Notice. Understand. Practise. Return.

This is why Mindamity is not really a book to race through and place back on the shelf.

It is a companion for change.

Because change rarely arrives in one dramatic moment. More often, it begins in the smallest one.

A breath. A pause. A new understanding. A different choice.

And then another.

The interactive experience

Some things are better experienced than explained.

Mindamity has been designed to give you space as you read. Illustrations offer places to connect, pause, rest your eyes and breathe.

The science is clearly separated from the main flow of the book, so you can explore it when you want to without feeling faced with a wall of information.

Small glimmers invite you to stop for a moment, while practice boxes give you somewhere to begin putting what you are discovering into your own life.

Throughout the book you will also find invitations to go beyond the page. QR codes take you directly to guided meditations and breath practice downloads in my own voice, so I can sit alongside you and guide you through them. Short visual explanations bring some of the science to life, while downloadable worksheets give you space to reflect, notice your patterns and make the practices your own.

There is no hurry, and no right way to do any of it. Read. Pause. Listen. Watch. Practise. Or simply rest for a while.

This is your journey, to explore in your own time and in your own way.
